Dates: Late April-October
Midcoast Maine has some of the best opportunities in the state for catching trophy large and smallmouth bass. Trips are run out of an 18′ cedar and canvas “freighter” canoe. Equally at home in open water and shallow backwaters, this traditional wooden boat will get you to where the fish are.
Some of the best fishing for smallmouth can be found just after ice out in late April and early May. By late May and June, the bass begin spawning. Anglers fishing during the spawn have some of the best opportunities all year to sight cast for big bass. The fishing in this area continues to be good throughout summer. Fly anglers will love the late summer Caddis hatch. Watching a big bass roll on a size 10 Caddis fly is something every fly angler should experience.
I can accommodate up to two fly or spin anglers on most trips. Trips for larger groups can be arranged with prior notice.
